Mad
Cow Theatre Company Presents ORLANDO, FL (February 23, 2000) Central Floridas Mad Cow Theatre Company announces the second production of their season with the opening of the poetic and emotional American classic, The Glass Menagerie. Written by Americas quintessential poet-playwright, Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie is one of the most well known and often produced plays of the last century and serves as an excellent portal to launch Mad Cows next century. The Glass Menagerie is the story of an American family caught together in the currents of change within themselves and within society. Trapped in the confines of a St. Louis tenement and the Great Depression the family dreams of escape: budding poet Tom envisions a future on the open seas, his sister Laura retreats from the present into a fantasy world of glass animals and single mother Amanda struggles to hold her family together as her own dreams fade. Audiences will experience relationships that echo with recognition and a world, like our own, that is lit by lighting. Director Trudy Bruners goal is to present an ensemble piece that shows the tremendously vivid relationships of this family drawing all the while from Williams cinematic style of telling stories and unveiling the fighting spirit of this American classic. Audiences will re-discover this classic memory play and experience a seamless melding of poetry, imagination and social reality. The Glass Menagerie features Tom Stearns as Tom; Robin Olson as Amanda, Jamie Wilson as Laura and Stephen Middleton as The Gentlemen Caller. Set Design is by William Elliott, lighting design by Erin Miner and costumes are by Betty Tanzer. RECAP: Who: What: When: Where: Tickets:
