Act Real originates in the "real world" of the student - today's headlines, music, films, books and current events that provide inspiration for a performance experience that the students create. Students will play with existing and original text, music, and movement along with other imaginative and theatrical forms. This work, coupled with a solid focus on basic acting skills, will provide students with self-assurance and confidence in their creative talent. An acting class for the novice and more experienced teen actor, Act Real is an adventure into finding out what's important to each student about theatre and about the world.

Mad Cow Theatre presents an intensive summer workshop for teenagers in grades 7 - 12.   Geared for students with a great interest in developing strong skills in stage acting, these classes are led by members of Mad Cow's professional company and Resident Artists.  Students will receive intensive training in all facets of the craft with a particular emphasis on establishing a foundation for a superior technique that is process-driven by text and character.   The Summer Comedy Intensive centers on comedy and is led by Mad Cow company member Jay Becker.  In depth training will include sessions in basic acting skills including work on improv, clowning and rhythm.  

For each session, a series of guest teachers will visit the class including professionals with backgrounds from ACT, NYU,  LAMDA and Broadway.

Class size is strictly limited to ensure a quality learning experience.   

Registration before first class is required. A $50 nonrefundable payment holds your place in class.
