Set in Florence and Rome in 1953, The Light in the Piazza is the story of a young American tourist traveling with her mother who meets and falls for a young Italian. Music and lyrics are by Adam Guettel, the grandson of Richard Rodgers, and it is based on a novella by Elizabeth Spencer.
