TECHNICAL PRODUCTION MANAGER
Mad Cow Theatre is one of Orlando’s most respected professional theatre companies presenting compelling works of theatre for a wide-range of audiences, with a passion for both classic and contemporary plays and musicals representing the best of American and World literature.
We are located in a new venue in the heart of downtown Orlando with 220 seats and two theatre spaces. With an annual attendance of over 20,000 and a subscriber base of 500, Mad Cow produces 10 productions plus The Orlando Cabaret Festival. Over the past 17 years, Mad Cow Theatre has grown from a tiny arts organization with an annual budget of $1,000 to the 15th largest non-profit arts organization in Orlando with an annual budget of over $1,000,000.

Mad Cow Theatre Company seeks a dynamic and skilled professional to serve as
the Technical Production Manager. Key responsibilities include the
supervision of all production activities including 10 productions per season,
including The Orlando Cabaret Festival.
Responsibilities include:
- - Manage, supervise and ensure the successful operations of the Production Department including planning, budgeting, scheduling, hiring and supervision of the technical staff (union and non-union) in the office, theater and warehouse.

- - This person is responsible for directing or controlling all production related program operations and must allocate resources for each production.

- - Planning and revising of production calendar.

- - Act as liaison between designers and production personnel, ensuring the successful completion of the scenic, lighting and technical elements for all productions.

- - Candidate must be able to identify and solve problems, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain effective working relationships with the artistic and production staff.

- - Prepare and oversee the execution of all technical information including ground plans, light plot, tech & build schedules and maintenance of scenery and equipment.

- - Ensure the safety of artists, facility and equipment maintenance and upgrades.

- - Working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures for theatrical production including design and implementation of lighting, sound, media, and rigging systems, stage management, and appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

- - Can perform carpentry and scenic painting work.

- - Must become familiar with theatre stock and be creative to work with designers to modify designs and drawings to best utilize the theatre space and the stock on hand to stay within budgets.

- -In charge of the purchase of production materials like wood, hardware, paints, any scenic elements requirements and truck rental if need be.

- - Must be able to turn a completed set design into the actual set pieces needed for a show.

- - Oversight of stage crew including all load-in, set-up and strike.

- - Handle any technical details needed during tech and performances.

- - Schedule production meetings, set builds and load-ins.

- - Help with any production needs for promotional, publicity events or activities if requested.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Production Manager and/or Technical Director with 3 – 5 years of theatrical production experience and a college degree. The Technical Production Manager must be a skilled technical professional with exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Technical Production Manager needs strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel to successfully manage the department. As a member of the company staff, they must have the ability to work productively and graciously under time and budget constraints, utilize flexibility, and bring a unique combination of creative and analytical talents to the theatre. A strong sense of humor is required.
