Mad Cow Theatre announces Superior Donuts

January 15,2010 (by Zac Alfson)
Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the Southeast Regional Premiere of Superior Donuts, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Letts.

Superior Donuts recently concluded its run on Broadway, and Mad Cow Theatre is one of the very first regional theatres to produce this acclaimed new play by the author of August: Osage County.

Hailed as “A soulful play, full of humor and humanity,” Superior Donuts is the story of Arthur Przybyszewski, who owns a decrepit donut shop in an uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Franco Wicks, a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better.  This comedy-drama, set in the heart of one of Chicago’s most diverse communities, explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship.

Directed by Rob Anderson (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, An Inspector Calls), Superior Donuts opens March 19th, as part of Mad Cow Theatre's Stage Left Series for the 2009-2010 season.
