archy the cockroach and mehitabel the cat first appeared in 1916 in the newspaper columns of celebrated writer Don marquis. The lovable but earnest archy and his best pal, the "toujours-gai" mehitabel, showed us an affectionate and ironic look at the world from the underside. In the 50's, Mel Brooks (The Producers), Joe Darion (Man of La Mancha) and composer George Kleinsinger turned the life and times of these two unlikely friends into a
jazzy, wacky and totally unlikely musical.
