June 9 - July 3 Now extended through Winner of the 2000 Alberta Playwrighting Competition, MARY’S WEDDING is both a memorial to the Great War and to Great Love. Calgary playwright Stephen Massicotte creates a heart-aching and haunting romance about a young couple torn apart by World War I, who discover that their love transcends time and place. Mary, newly arrived from England, meets Charlie, a handsome young farm boy. A thunderstorm pulls them together, the war pulls them apart. Only memories, letters and dreams keep their love alive. But in dreams, the lines of reality and fantasy are blurred. A flash of lighting in the prairie sky turns into exploding shells in the muddy trenches of France, as MARY’S WEDDING weaves a history lesson and a love story into a haunting tale of first love. Mad Cow Theatre is pleased to present the southeastern premier of this captivating tale of young love. |
